CU Undergraduate Pre-Health Program

I hope this email finds you in good health and high spirits. The Undergraduate Pre-Health Program (UPP) is now accepting applications. If you are not familiar with UPP it is program for students interested in careers in the health care professions (Public Health, Basic Science Research in Biological, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicine (MD, MD-PhD, Physician Assistant and Physical Therapy), Pharmacy, Dental Medicine, Nursing and other healthcare professions.) One of the primary goals of UPP is to increase the number of historically underrepresented individuals with the health care professions for the purpose of reducing health disparities among underserved communities in Colorado.

Over 130 undergraduates have complete UPP since the program began in 2006. To date 100 percent of UPP participants have completed their undergraduate studies, of this 100 percent that applied to graduate and professional programs matriculated.
A great component of UPP at the Anschutz Medical Campus is our relationship with Kaiser Permanente Health Plan of Colorado. We have developed a mutually beneficial partnership that helps both organizations reach the shared goal of developing competent health care professionals for the state of Colorado. The program offers educational training over the summer to focus on health disparities that disproportionately affect numerous communities. UPP fellows also attend various workshops and Saturday Academies throughout the school year.
