Dear Friends & Community Members,
On August 8, 2009, the people of Southern Taiwan suffered a tremendous set-back due to the destructive forces of Typhoon Morakot, the likes of which had not been witnessed in over 50 years. Scores of casualties and overwhelming infrastructural damage resulted, and although the Taiwanese government took swift and thorough action, our fellow brothers and sisters of Taiwan now find themselves struggling to recover and reconstruct from this disaster.
In solidarity with our fellow citizens, family and friends, the Double Tenth Celebration Committee has elected to forego this year’s Double Tenth Celebration and support the recovery mission of the residents of Taiwan. The 2009 OCAC Goodwill Mission has devoted is tour and performances to the recovery effort of Southern Taiwan, under the theme of “Give a Hand to Rebuild Hope.”
Now is the time to show your love and support of those far away but forever close to our hearts, in their time of need. We encourage you to join us in support of the recovery mission and relief efforts. You can support the mission in one of two ways:
(1) Make a tax-deductible contribution, payable to “Chinese American Council of Colorado”, and send to Sylvia Edgar c/o CACC, 11326 East Alabama Circle, Aurora, CO 80012.
(2) Purchase tickets and attend the upcoming Good Will Mission, and enjoy a host of Taiwan’s most talented musical performers as they share the best of our culture on Friday, September, 25, 2009 at 7:00 pm at Colorado Heights University (formerly known as Teikyo Loretto Heights University) at 3001 South Federal Blvd., Denver, CO 80236.
