The China Center is holding a “Conversation on China’s Rise” with Mr. James Fallows. Mr. Fallows will present a brief synopsis of his vast experience in China to begin the discussion. Following this, the floor will be open for all to contribute. A national correspondent for The Atlantic, James Fallows is one of America’s most respected journalists. Based in China since 2006, he is now chronicling the country’s explosive growth and its staggering ramifications for America and the world. Fallows graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard University and studied economics at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. The author of several books, including Breaking the News, about the crisis facing contemporary news media, and Blind into Baghdad, about the lead-up to the War in Iraq, which is now required reading in many military programs, his latest book is Postcards from Tomorrow Square: Reports from China (January 2009). This event is at no charge.
